Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is an introduction to the therapy process and an opportunity to learn about you and what brings you to therapy.  The assessment including gathering information about a specific problem or concern, as well as important information about you and your life.  Together we determine the goals for treatment and pathways to achieve these goals.  The initial phase is also an opportunity to ensure that this type of therapy is a good fit and can adequately meet your needs.

Individual & Play Therapy

In a comfortable and supportive environment, individual therapy is highly effective opportunity to restore hope achieve balance, and establish purpose.

Play therapy is a highly effective and developmentally appropriate therapy tool to resolve difficulties facing young children.  Play therapy helps children build the coping skills and emotional resiliency in order to achieve emotional growth and development.  Play therapy often uses a range of approaches, including imaginative play, art supplies, music, movement, and games.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is designed to address the health and functioning of a family system.  Depending on the unique needs and goals of the family, different combinations of family members participation in each session.  Family therapy can be beneficial during periods of conflict, stress, or major transition or to cope with mental health needs of family members.  Typical goals of family therapy are to improve communication, expand coping skills, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships.

 

Presentations and Consultations

Providing tailored didactic presentations on a variety of psychology topics to meet the specific needs of a community organization or school.  Topics including anxiety in young children, effectiveness of play therapy, emotional regulation in children, and the neuroscience of parenting.

Providing clinical consultations with parents, school staff, and medical providers for individual clients and families.
